Our coaches see this camp as an opportunity to bring the concept of “play” back to our community. The goal is to provide a week of fun activities - none of which involves a phone, laptop or screen of any kind to not only Leland but to Brunswick County.
We have noticed over the years with the increase in technology and the pandemic that we have had a decrease in physical activity and social-emotional development. This has led to massive amounts of screen time, a more sedentary lifestyle, and missing out on the chance to learn life lessons through play. During this week we will focus on the socialization, competition and physical activity that has been pushed aside over the past few years.
Our camp offers an unplugged experience for children to take a break from technology and reconnect with each other while building skills in a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, archery and baseball/softball among other games and activities.
We believe sports are a fundamental part of developing core characteristics like respect, responsibility, honesty, and independence. Our objective for the week is to develop these characteristics while playing and having fun in a safe, educational and competitive way!
